At the Asian International Label Printing Exhibition, Avery Dennison marked a significant milestone by publicly unveiling its groundbreaking TurnLock™ laminating system in the Asia-Pacific region for the first time. This patent-pending technology revolutionizes the manufacturing process for laminated labels, enabling users to safeguard label designs using a single material, thereby eliminating the need for extra laminating materials or double-sided tapes. This innovation results in a potential reduction in material costs by up to 30% and a simultaneous increase in production efficiency by 25%.

Markus Mingenbach, Director of Durable Products at Avery Dennison Materials, emphasized, "Our new system combines standard printing techniques with a unique roller mechanism, fundamentally altering the production workflow and simplifying the creation of durable labels. It ingeniously merges two conventional lamination steps into one, preserving the high anti-contamination and wear-resistant properties of laminated labels, while accelerating production, optimizing workflow stages, reducing warehouse space needs, and minimizing material waste. TurnLock™ effectively tackles common downstream lamination issues like inconsistent tension or bubbling, offering substantial cost savings, leading numerous printers to proactively advocate for this innovative material to their clientele."

The core innovation of the TurnLock™ system resides in replacing the traditional two-step method with a single-material process, ensuring perfect label pattern protection through four crucial stages: initially, patterns and texts are reverse-printed on a 50-micron transparent polyester film with adhesive; next, the film layer separates from the adhesive and flips upward around a turning rod, while the adhesive and the release liner divert to another path; subsequently, the film rapidly reverses on the rod to orient the printed surface downward, ensuring accurate visual presentation; and lastly, the film is reunited with the adhesive/release liner. This technique is particularly apt for long-lasting, premium labels required by brand identification and information tags, guaranteeing the highest level of protection for graphics and text.

Avery Dennison furnishes the TurnLock™ system with two product variations, each featuring distinct substrate coatings, empowering printers to fabricate labels in white, black, and even metallic PET finishes, thus broadening creative horizons and applications.
